Whether or not salvation is by election, if we don't meet the criteria God gives us for salvation, we are not "elect". The Bible says that murderers, adulterers, liars, homosexuals, unbelievers, sorcerers, etc. are destined for the "lake of fire", "second death", "do not inherit the kingdom of God", and are subject to "the wrath of God." These and other unrighteous people are not elect.
